It's just over a week in the New Year and reports show that
25% of resolutions have already been broken. By the end of the year, less than
10% of resolutions will be upheld. So, how are the few who follow their
successful intentions?
Research shows that the right attitude is the most important
element for sustainable health changes.
1. Practice yoga.
Yoga connects you to the reason for which you have found a
solution. Every time you practice yoga, you establish an intention. You are
committed to yourself and your vision. If you are not clear about the goal
behind your goal, it may be short. For example, if you are trying to lose
weight, ask yourself why you want to lose it. It's not enough to lose 20 pounds
just because you see a number on the scale. On the other hand, yoga will
challenge you to ask what it really costs to carry extra weight. You may want
to lose weight because you want more energy and passion for your spouse. If you
are not clear about your goal, you will lose the motivation to keep going when
things get difficult.
2. Develop a morning routine.
"Win in the morning, win the day". This saying is
true to maintain a healthy mind. Wake up every day at the same time and develop
a ritual that will help you start the day. A good strategy is to start with a
glass of water to aid digestion, then do some exercise or stretching session.
3. Have a path to physical recovery.
If you want to change the perspective, first change your
physical condition. If you feel lethargic and unmotivated, stand up and move
your body. Even if it only takes 10 minutes, physical activity will help you
change your thinking. When I feel stuck, I stop what I'm doing and go for a
walk or do a series of exercises such as jumps, pushups, or a yoga sequence.
4. Become responsible
If you have something or someone who keeps you honest, it
will help you to develop a sense of pride. Find a partner of responsibility.
Talk to him regularly on a weekly or monthly basis. Join a like-minded
community that meets regularly to discuss members' goals. Be open about your
resolve and share it with someone whom you respect and love. If you want to be
stronger, find a class, join a gym, or join a recreational sports team that
prompts you to appear for you and the group.
Be responsible too. If you are working to maintain a
positive attitude, wear a wrist band. Have the wristband on the opposite wrist
change every time you complain. Only the simple physical action of taking off
and changing the placement of the bracelet will help reinforce positive
thinking.
5. Meditate every day.
Meditation is a great way to become less approachable. It
teaches you to stop and observe your thoughts before answering. If you yearn to
break your resolve, meditation will give you the discipline to decide in the
long run what you really want and not immediately what rewards you most. The
head space app, a guided meditation that you can hear everywhere, is a good
place to start. I recommend practicing meditation in the morning and at
bedtime. This frees you from your thoughts and calms you to start your day and
sleep well at night.
6. Start writing in the newspaper.
Take some time in the newspaper every day. There is an
application called the Five Minute Journal that makes this process perfect. Do
not think too much about what you write. Use it as a platform to spread all
your ailments, worries, or other issues that make your mind vibrate. As you go
through this process, your thoughts become a place where you can stop so that
you do not disturb your mind throughout the day. This helps to eliminate
unnecessary mental disorders and to focus more attention on what is really
important.
7. Have fun.
You need to know what you are doing to make it work. If you
scramble to the gym and force yourself to run on the treadmill while you look
at the clock, hoping that it will end, you will eventually burn yourself. But
if you go to a group class and work more often because you enjoy it, you're
more likely to reach your goals.
